To The Girl Who Is Ready to Give Herself the Kind of Love Letter She’s Been Waiting for From Someone Else,
Sukari Ayanna Brown. Woman, you are nothing short of amazing. I know we are just starting to get to know each other but girl, what you’re showing me so far is nothing like I’ve ever seen before. There is so much to your story that I want to explore and I’m realizing that as much as you share, there is still a lot that most people don’t know. Well Sukari, I want to know.
I want to know everything about you. I want to spend my evenings searching through your soul for the pieces of the puzzle that come together to make you…well you. I want us to sit in the sun on the weekends and dig deeper into the things that bring you peace and joy. On Sundays, I want to unpack the day’s sermon with you to grasp the intricacies of your faith and to grow together in our journey together. Tackling the tough questions we have about what we received. Listen, I don’t have the answers, but I know I’m ready to try to discover the answers with you.
You amaze me more and more each day. I mean sure you’re not perfect but I appreciate that you have an unmatched level of self-awareness. You recognize the things within yourself that you need to work on (like your patience with me lol) and you actually take the steps to address your “weaknesses”. But, I’m not gone hold you, Lord knows when the Brooklyn pops out I be ready to run for cover lol. Even with that spicy BK energy, you still make it so easy to love you. Is it bad if I kinda like that Brooklyn energy you bring? It ain’t for everybody, but that’s fine with me because my name ain’t Everybody *shrug*.
The truth is, I fell for you hard girl but I’ve learned that there is nothing but upside wherever you are. You’ve pushed through some traumatic stuff. You’ve navigated some complicated circumstances. You’ve pivoted and advanced in your career in ways that others dream of. You’ve kept tact and impact at your core, and it shows. It shows in how willing you are with me. It shows in the ways you soak up all the information you can and share it so that the next person can learn and grow. It shows in the ways you extend grace to me and others, even when we might not deserve it. You give of yourself in so many ways and I’ve become a better version of myself because of how you decided to show up for me. I want to give you more because of this. You deserve it. I’ve always known it deep down inside but for whatever reason, it was hard for me to properly express that to you. Now, I have the words AND actions to prove it. There’s no way I’m going to give you less than. I will make sure you always have MORE than.
I’m getting deep in my Birkin bag of emotions but that’s where you take me sometimes. I’m getting more and more okay with being there if I’m being honest. There is a comfort in knowing that with you, I have a space that allows me to feel safe to explore all of my feelings. Thank you Sukari. I don’t tell you that enough but, thank you. For everything, every moment, every prayer, every workout, every meal, every note, every laugh, every tear, and every bit of hope you give. You make me feel and being able to feel reminds me God gave me the gift of life for another day.
If you can’t tell, I’m not going anywhere. There’s just so much about you that makes my heart smile and I want to fully commit to reciprocating that feeling. So, every day, you will know how special you are. Every day, you will be affirmed with the best words I can offer. Every day I will work to bring you gifts of peace and joy. Every single day you will know that you are the priority. We will grow together and achieve together each step of the way. I’m excited for what’s ahead. I know it won’t always be easy but as long as it’s me and you, then it will be worth every bit of energy I have to give. You’re worth it. You’ve always been and you always will be. I’ll make sure that you never forget that ever again.
