To the girl that is embracing imperfection,

I know this is new for you. All you’ve known is to strive to perfect everything you do.  That has brought you a lot of great things in your life and has given you a sense of control you’ve craved, but it has also caused you harm. It has stopped you from putting things out into the world that can potentially impact lives just because you didn’t think it was perfect enough. It has stopped you from fully showing up to things you liked because in your mind you weren’t good enough yet. It has caused you to dwell on mistakes for far longer than needed because mistakes were silly in your eyes and were for people who didn’t prepare enough.

This isn’t your fault.

This is a product of your childhood. You needed to get perfect grades and behave perfectly in order to feel like you were receiving love. That’s where your need to be perfect all stems from. But I’m proud of you. I’m proud that in the past year you have allowed your beliefs to shift, you have worked hard to change your mindset surrounding this and many other things. You have taken the opportunity to embrace imperfection. And you’re happier for it. You‘ve discovered a sense of peace that you didn’t know before. You have discovered a level of confidence you’ve always dreamed of reaching. You’re able to extend compassion easily for yourself & others. You’re now able to help those struggling with the same thing.

There’s still work to be done of course, but don’t forget to celebrate your progress and the journey you’ve been on because it’s a heck of a journey!

To the girl that’s embracing imperfection, I’m so proud of you!
