i've finally fallen in love with my hair and it's

𝟮 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀. 𝗶𝘁 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗺𝘂𝗰𝗵 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗶 𝘀𝗮𝘆 𝗶𝘁 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀. ⁣⁠𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝗶𝘁’𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝟮 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶’𝘃𝗲 𝗰𝘂𝘁 𝗺𝘆𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳.⁣⁠

that’s 24 months of fighting the urge to choose a blade for a quick fix that’s never really a fix.⁣⁠
⁣⁠
it’s 104 weeks of talking myself off the ledge and choosing a better coping mechanism even if said coping mechanism is drawing a line on my wrist where I so desperately want to puncture.⁣⁠
⁣⁠
It’s 731 days of making decisions that are not only good for me, but good for my loved ones too and not having them search my body for new markings.⁣⁠
⁣⁠
it’s 17544 hours of silently celebrating daily wins, because i know this was accomplished by me, for me only. for the first time, i truly did this for me.⁣⁠
⁣⁠
this will most likely be my last yearly update on my self-mutilation journey, but i wanted to share this joy with you. i wanted to share this with those who may be starting their journeys again. i celebrate you all because you can do hard things, and you showing up each day to this fight is evidence of that.⁣⁠

i am proud of my progress. it has shown me my discipline but it has also shown me a new appreciation for the strength i didn’t think i had.⁣⁠

🍃 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘩𝘶𝘨𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘦𝘵 𝘣𝘶𝘵𝘵𝘰𝘯. mr. smith and i masked up and came home two weeks ago for some much-needed love from our east coast family. i have not felt this loved in such a long time. i haven't eaten this well in such a long time. boston + new york, we've missed you, you dirty bitches.⁣⁣⁠

🍃 𝘢𝘤𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸𝘭𝘦𝘥𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘺 𝘨𝘳𝘰𝘸𝘵𝘩. with coming home, I've realized just how much I've outgrown certain environments and people. this isn't a negative experience, it was actually quite reaffirming to feel both my mind and body reject energies it no longer has the patience for. doing the work shows you just how much bullshit you were willing to put up for the sake of comfort. doing the work shows you just how much you love you.⁣⁣⁠

🍃 𝘣𝘢𝘣𝘺 𝘴𝘪𝘴 𝘪𝘴𝘯'𝘵 𝘣𝘢𝘣𝘺 𝘴𝘪𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘺𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦. she's a 17 year old, with lofty goals and an attitude to match 😂. but most importantly, baby sis doesn't need protecting anymore. baby sis has a strength about her that is out of this world powerful.⁣⁣⁠
