𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝘅𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝘁

𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝘅𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗵𝗼𝗽 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿'𝘀 𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘁.⁣⁠

tuesday night was a 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱 ass night for me, but come wednesday morning, anxiety really had the audacity to try and steal my joy and excitement.⁣⁠
⁣⁠
i set the intention this year that I wasn't playing small because nothing about this personality, essence, dreams, BAWDY, or plans is small 💁🏾‍♀️. slowly but surely I've been inching my ass out of my comfort zone, and tuesday night? that was divine timing and confirmation that I'm on the right track.⁣⁠

i deserve to feel all the good feels that came from this moment.⁣⁠
⁣⁠
𝘀𝗼 𝗶 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝘅𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿'𝘀 𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘁.⁣⁠

you see, i've come to understand that anxiety doesn't just disappear. no, homegirl is clingy as hell, and that's not always a bad thing. she shows up to make sure we are safe... but then gets a little too excited and starts overthinking and ringing the alarms. ⁣⁠
⁣⁠
anxiety can come along for the ride, but homegirl shouldn't be driving your decisions nor stealing your joy. she can sit in the back with all her thoughts and excessive panic because when in the driver's seat, it means you're operating through fear and lack, and nothing blooms from that.⁣⁠
⁣⁠
so tell your anxiety it's okay if she's trying to tag along, but she doesn't get to make decisions and she doesn't get rain on your excitement.⁣⁠

i had the pleasure of hosting a mental-health pane

i had the pleasure of hosting a mental-health panel for college students and the amount of times i heard, "i've never had any mental health problems," was a little surprising. for some of them, they were taught mental health issues are nothing to claim, and most of them thought it meant having to deal with an extreme diagnosis.⁣⁠

so let me pop this bubble for us all: ⁣⁠

𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀. 𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘂𝘀 𝗱𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵.⁣⁠

𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 pertains to disorders that have standard criteria utilized for diagnosis. examples? generalized anxiety disorder, eating disorders, bipolar disorder, etc.⁣⁠
⁣⁠
𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵? 𝗶𝘁 𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝗺𝘂𝗰𝗵 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝘄𝗲 𝗼𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗻 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗲.⁣⁠
⁣⁠
it's how we feel and think. it's how we show up (for others and ourselves) emotionally, mentally, and psychologically. it directly affects our social well-being, all of our relationships. it helps determine how we handle stress and make healthy choices.⁣⁠
⁣⁠
mental health 𝗶𝘀 an everybody issue and the sooner we all accept this, and do so without shame attached, the sooner we can all get to a true balance of wellness.

𝗺𝗮𝘆 𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 // 𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵.⁣⁠

mental health awareness happens on a daily around these parts, but it doesn't lessen the importance of this month.⁣⁠
⁣⁠
do your best this month to encourage the uncomfortable yet important conversations. participate in the many free events and healing circles. share your resources, experiences, and truths. ⁣⁠
⁣⁠
let's continue pushing the needle forward. let's continue to chip away at this stigma 💚.

most folks tend to visit san jose (capital) or guanacaste (expat / tourist land), but the real culture (and black people 😂) are in limon, the carribbean side. you'll have a completely different experience there than the two former (both equally as beautiful).⁠
⁠
i looked like picture 1 for the first few days, and then the real yetti (picture 2) surfaced and got real comfortable 😂.⁠

picture 3 was my meditation spot at the family bed + breakfast. every morning, even with the fear that an insect would terrorize me, i made my way to the pool to meditate and have a moment with myself. picture 8 was my meditation corner in san jose. both surrounded by nature. both equally as effective, beautiful... and scary lmao.⁠
⁠
picture 4 is from the black sand beaches. the healing properties of this sand are definitely something to experience. that and getting a massage in the middle of the jungle and @purejunglespa (picture 5).⁠

pictures 6 and 7 are from the cacao bean/chocolate tour i begrudgingly was dragged on... and loved because of our guide, oscar, who is pictured. ⁠

costa rica was everything that i needed... and didn't know that i needed. and i can't wait to take you all back with me for the YS retreat 😆.⁠
